Jaya Bachchan is extremely fond of Ash’s ex-lover Vivek Oberoi

Sunday, 10 January 2010
Guess who is bonding with the Bachchans now? It’s none other than `bahu` Aishwarya Rai’s ex-flame Vivek Oberoi who was seen at his impressive best at a recent award function where he socialized with mother-in-law Jaya Bachchan in his endless attempts to end the age-old fictions between the two parties. The year sure seems to have begun on a very positive note for this lad as Jaya, unlike the other members of the family, was much too keen to chat-up with the actor.

The actor seems to have been finally accepted by the Bachchan clan. As to how this miracle happened sources tell us that it’s all thanks to the strategic seat placement at several events. This time round at a Bollywood function on Friday, the actor was again seated right behind Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan. And as per sources, Vivek took full advantage of this co-incidence. Dancing on the chance the actor was spotted in an intense conversation with Jaya. Though Amitabh was not as forthcoming as his wife, Vivek was much too pleased to talk to senior Mrs Bachchan.

As for Abhishek and Aishwarya, the couple kept their distance and continued to give a cold snub to the craving for forgiveness actor. Well, with rumours stating that it’s Jaya Bachchan who calls the shots at the Bachchan household, it will only be a matter of time till Vivek will be forgiven by one and all.

The forgetful actor simply did not pick it from the table after paying for dinner. Nor did he get back to the hotel folk to check its whereabouts. The incident happened on Friday at the Little Italy restaurant on Ganeshkhind Road, Pune. VO was accompanied by a bunch of friends.

Says a source, "Vivek arrived with a bunch of guys and girls. He paid the bill with his credit card. After the group left the table, the waiter realised that the actor's credit card was lying on the table. By the time the waiter could bring it to his attention, VO had already left the premises."

Navin Patrick, the restaurant's food and beverage manager, confirms, "Yes, his credit card was left behind. We still have it with us. We would like to return it to him."

Says a source close to Vivek, "Yes, Vivek was at the restaurant and forgot to pick up the card. He was out with friends as one of his pals had just had a baby and they were celebrating." The source adds, "Vivek had not blocked the credit card. Yesterday he realised it and got in touch with the hotel folk to return the card."

Last month, Karan Johar had lost his credit cards in London. As reported ('KJo robbed'; Hitlist, November 9), the filmmaker did not even realise it till he actually searched his stuff for them.

I will not apologise to Salman anymore: Vivek Oberoi

Sunday, 22 November 2009
There won't be any more apologies from Vivek Oberoi to Salman Khan. The actor says he's done saying sorry to Sallu. Not just that but Oberoi also claims that should he fight, he will hold his ground against Khan.

Recently, Vivek was a guest On The Couch With Koel. Apart from talking about his work and a new outlook towards life, he also made remarks on Salman and claimed it was wrong to assume that in a scenario of a fistfight, the brawny man would win!

A source reveals that Vivek was extremely jovial on the show. "He seemed to have left his old personality behind and has taken on a positive outlook towards life. He laughed off most of his controversies but when the conversation veered towards Salman, he didn't mince any words."

Here are excerpts from the chat that airs on November 28 on Headlines Today. Koel: I watched your recent interview with Farah and in context to Salman you said, 'hum mard ki tarah ek dosare ko mar sakte hai, mere bhi do haath hai... and all this. If you actually got into a fisticuffs with him, who would win?
Vivek: Umm...I really don't know, I mean it kinda sounds like the expected answer would be obviously the brawn man. But umm... it doesn't really work that way. I mean, I've had my share of fights and I think I can hold my own. I don't think it's about a size of a bicep, it's the intent and speed of a fist hitting a vital point that determines a fight.

Koel (interrupting): Now don't say anything you are going to regret again.
Vivek: No no no... I think that's what determines a fight. I don't know if you've ever seen a street fight or if you've ever seen a brawl... it's not really about how big the guy is.

Koel: Please do invite me if you do decide to have this challenge. I want front row seats to this fight.
Vivek: You and half the world... No

Koel: Now, you've done your share of apologising but of course those apologies haven't really been accepted by Salman. He still... the only person that he talks badly about let's say... is you. Like he does say you are an idiot. I'm sorry to say this but he does say this, as you are aware of it.
Vivek: I mean well in the current context, I take that as a compliment, you know '3 Idiots', I would like be the fourth.

Koel: Nicely said.
Vivek: Raju Hirani, if you're watching...

Koel: So are you done with apologising?
Vivek: Ya I'm done.

Koel: So that phase of your life is over?
Vivek: Ya. I think I've squared all of that up, I've finished all the things I started. I've decided not to talk badly about anybody. If somebody else wants to continue talking badly about whoever else including me, then they can. I mean those are choices everybody makes.

Vivek's dream girl is Kareena Kapoor

Wednesday, 18 November 2009
After being dumped by Aishwarya Bachchan you would expect Vivek Oberoi to be grounded but the Saathiya star is far away from that. During a recent promotional event for his upcoming movie Kurbaan, Vivek was asked about his dream woman.

Vivek didn't waste any time to think and said Kareena Kapoor his co-star in Kurbaan.Incidentally Kareena's royal beau Saif Ali Khan who also stars in the movie was present at the event and said that there was only one Kareena and she was dating him.

Seems like the possessive Saif wanted to give a fitting reply to a flirty Vivek. Our advice to Vivek would be to stay away from all this at a time when his career is seeing chances of revival!

Sallu, SRK, Vivek avoid face off

Wednesday, 12 August 2009
Juicy Mausi has a great piece of gossip from the 25th wedding anniversary bash of Ramesh Taurani (TIPS Films head honcho) at a suburban five-star hotel last night in Mumbai. It was a grand A-list affair with the who's of who of Bollywood and the music industry coming in to greet the Taurani couple. However, what left me amused was how Salman Khan avoided coming face-to-face with Shah Rukh Khan.

What's more, as soon as Salman arrived, Vivek Oberoi slipped out immediately.Shah Rukh arrived driving his car, puffing his cigarette. Sohail Khan was already present when he went in. King Khan didn't hang around much and left after greeting the Taurani couple.

Just minutes after SRK left, Salman Khan arrived from the back door entrance of the hotel. Now I don't know if Sohail called up his elder brother to tell him the 'coast is clear', or whether he kept Salman waiting to arrive to avoid a face off with SRK.But funnily as soon as Salman made a back door entry, Vivek Oberoi who was present at the party immediately rushed to the front door to make an exit. He was in such a hurry that he told his driver to shift to the next seat and he himself took to the wheel.

Salman, too, left in exactly five minutes from the front gate. Luckily, Vivek's car was out of the hotel premises by then!Incidentally, SRK and Salman stay just few metres away from Taj Lands End.Well, here's hoping that both do better than Khan's last effort Billu!

Find a Nice girl, Bebo tells Vivek

Monday, 18 May 2009
Vivek Oberoi, whose name is now being linked to sitar player Anoushka Shankar, says good friend Kareena Kapoor pesters him most to find a suitable match for himself and settle down soon.

"The pressure (of getting married) is on, not only from my family but from even Bebo (Kareena’s pet name)," Vivek, who will be seen with Kareena and Saif in Rensil D’Silva’s untitled film, told IANS in an e-mail interview.

"Every time we go out for dinner, she would shake her head and tell me - ‘find a nice girl and settle down’ and I would hide behind Saif to dodge the bullet. We had some great laughs," he said.

Vivek’s personal life has always been in the spotlight - from the time his engagement to long-standing girlfriend Gurpreet Gill broke off to the short but much-hyped relationship with former beauty queen Aishwarya Rai. But now the actor is single.

He reasons his stag status by saying: "I’m single because I am waiting to find the girl who will make me want to never be single again."

His personal life apart, Vivek has his hands full with big banner movies like Ram Gopal Varma’s "Rakta Charitra", Prakash Jha’s "Rajniti" and Tips Films’ "Prince" besides Rensil D’Silva’s untitled romantic thriller.

So Vivek will be back with a bang after experiencing a series of ups and downs in his career.

Vivek is in no mood to assess his stint in Bollywood since his launch in Varma’s "Company" in 2002 as he says he is still raring to go.

"When I retire, I will have enough time to sit back in a rocking chair and judge my career. Right now, it’s time for me to grab every opportunity and give it my very best," said Vivek, who was loved by audiences in films like "Saathiya" and "Yuva" as well.

The actor also spoke about the only mistake he thinks he made during his seven-year-old career.

"What went wrong in between was that I had forgotten why I came here…to be an actor…just that…Not all the trappings of stardom but just the pure fire of burning desire to act," he said.

Now Vivek says he has set a goal for himself.

"Every day, in every way, I want to be better and better…that is my mission and my prayer," he said.
