Audacious Vidya- From boozing to finger-sucking

What impression do we have of gorgeous Vidya Balan? She never touches alcohol, and does not involve in the negative shades. But for the upcoming movie ‘Ishqiya,’ she has shot a special risqué song called ‘Ibn batuta’ in ‘Ishqiya’ with co-stars Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi.What Vidya Balan describes as the most blatant come-hither gesture which she has ever seen any actress in Hindi cinema make, in Ishqiya she had to take Arshad Warsi’s thumb in her mouth and suck it.
In the rehearsals, each time she did so, she would burst into uncontrollable titters and Arshad would then join in.
“Fortunately, Arshad is a friend. We’ve gotten along well from the time we did ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’ together. I don’t know I’d have been able to do a scene like putting my co-star’s finger in the mouth with someone else. That gesture of sucking Arshad’s thumb was so raunchy and sexy, so not me, I couldn’t connect with it all,” Vidya said.

Director Vishal Bharadwaj is once again at loggerheads with the Censor Board. Earlier, he had to swallow the bitter pill when his Kaminey was granted an ‘A’ certificate by the board despite having no expletives or skin exposure.Now, his production Ishqiya has hit a hurdle with the board because it has the word ‘sex’ in it. Though the theatrical promo of the film by director Abhishek Chaubey was given an ‘A’ certificate, Vishal wanted a U/A certificate to air the promo on television.
But the board officials asked the maverick producer to beep out the word ‘sex’ from the promo.
There is a scene in the film where Arshad Warsi questions Naseeruddin Shah: ‘Tumhara pyar, pyar, aur hamara pyar, sex’. The board has objected to this dialogue.
But Vishal isn’t happy with the board’s stand. He feels it’s regressive to think that the word ‘sex’ is a taboo. He now plans to approach the board’s revising committee.
‘Ishqiya’ tells a story of two thugs who take shelter in the house of a friend’s widow, played by Vidya Balan, in a village. The two thieves fall in love with the widow, who manipulates them with her charms.
